Background:

David is originally from Warrington in Cheshire. His Dad was in a ‘Dad Band’ and his sister is a dance teacher, David claims she inspired him to be what he is today.
David remembers being shy at school and even nicknamed his group of friends “the drama geeks.” But he came to life in drama lessons because this was where he was most confident. David left Warrington at the age of 18 to attend performing arts school LIPA. He came straight out of there and joined a Manchester based band called Reemer. With David as the lead singer, the band toured the UK with McFly, The Feeling and Scouting For Girls, playing to arenas of 20,000 people. Sadly, the other boys in the group decided the rock and roll life style wasn’t for them and the group disbanded and David was left to fend for himself. He went away and wrote his own music and set up his own Open Mike night in a bar in Warrington. Despite his stint in a band, David actually considers acting to be his first profession. After the band broke up, he took time to concentrate on his acting and won various roles including a stint in the West End’s One Man, Two Guvnors.

How did it feel when you found out you got through to the live finals?

Unbelievable! It had been one of the craziest and most intense times of my life and to finish it off with such amazing news made it one of the best weeks ever. Knowing that Andrew Lloyd Webber had seen something special in my performances meant the world to me and now’s my chance to prove him right.

What can we expect from you in the live shows?

Although I’ve always been a singer, I trained as an actor and I hope you’ll see that on the show. I’ll be trying to tell a story through every song, but having said that, I still know how to rock out and blow the roof off when the time is right. In short, you’ll see a passionate lad, giving everything he’s got to win the competition…with some cheeky dance moves thrown in!

How has the experience been for you so far?

It’s been a real journey; being surrounded by so many talented lads was incredibly intimating, but each time I progressed I grew in confidence and in the final weeks, I really came into my own. I’ve had to step up and fight for my place in the finals and that makes it all the more satisfying to be here.

What would winning Superstar mean to you and how do you think it will change your life?

Winning the show would be such a huge achievement. I’ve played some amazing venues in the past, but always as the support act or the understudy, this is a chance to play the leading man and show everyone what I can do. It would be a life changing moment and one that I desperately want; I can’t wait to get started.
