Jeff

NAME:

Jeff Anderson

AGE:

21

OCCUPATION:

Singer in a rock band

FROM:

Belfast

Background:

Born and bred in Newtonards, a town about 10 miles from Belfast, Jeff still lives with his parents. Both parents enjoy singing and Jeff remembers many occasions listening to his Dad sing /playing the guitar whilst his mum harmonised to the songs.

From a young age Jeff’s two biggest loves in life have been music and rugby. He used to travel to London to hang around the stage door at Les Miserables in the hope of seeing the cast while also having trials for the Irish rugby teams. By the time Jeff was 19 he had dislocated the same shoulder 22 times playing rugby and it was then that he realised he would never pursue a career in the sport, so he had to put the dream to bed, but luckily this allowed him to concentrate on music.

Jeff had always sung and taught himself to play the guitar when he was just 11. After finishing school, Jeff formed a band ‘Wanted Alive’, the boys’ practise three times a week and play a mix of hard rock and pop rock. Jeff starred as Jean Val Jean in a student production of Les Miserables and then in 2011 he joined a local Operatic Society where he took on the title role in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar and it was there that he fell in love with the music.

How did it feel when you found out you got through to the live finals?

When I got through to the live finals I was speechless and completely over whelmed. It just wouldn’t sink in that Andrew believed in me, especially after I felt I could have performed better in my auditions before I received the good news!

What can we expect from you in the live shows?

In the live shows you can expect to see me show my full range of talents! This is my opportunity to prove to everyone that I have got what it takes, that I can rock out and tear that stage up!

How has the experience been for you so far?

Unlike the others, who have more years and experience behind them, I feel that for me, it has been an incredibly intense learning curve. I have felt like I have responded quickly to the training and I have really felt the progression throughout the competition within myself as a performer. And it goes without saying that is the most fantastic experience to work with such big names and incredible coaches, you could not buy this experience and I’m not taking anything for granted.

What would winning Superstar mean to you and how do you think it will change your life?

Winning Superstar would really mean everything to me; it would show that all my hard work over the years and throughout this show has paid off. To get to perform such an iconic role on such a massive stage with amazing talent around me would just be phenomenal.
